Cape to Cape Expedition
Srednekolymsk- Russia - (Среднеколымск)
3rd March 2008
13th March 2008
Having spoken to Nicky last night (this morning here!) I updated her. We are now covering about 220km in a 12 hour day and so did not reach Srednekolymsk. We have reached it today.
The scenery is very beautiful and we are travelling along the snow road on the River Kolyma which winds from side to side of the river but is reasonably well maintained and level! We are unsure of the truck situation in Pevek; Sergei has a contract starting on the 5th April in Magadan but has said that if we make good progress he would be able to continue at least until Schmidta.
We are very well and enjoying the driving and scenery. Personally we are getting along very well although Simon has taken to complaining when I dry my smelly boot liners out on a hotel radiator or on the Webasto heater in the Land Rover !!
